DialoguePerspectives I Kick-Off “Jewish-Muslim Solidarity”

The significant kick-off event “Jewish-Muslim Solidarity: An Action Programme to Combat Prejudice and Discrimination” took place on 10 and 11 December, bringing together representatives from over 20 institutions. The event, moderated by Neta-Paulina Wagner (DialoguePerspectives) and Vatan Ukaj (Wertansich(t)), facilitated an open and inclusive exchange, promoted networking and supported the joint development of a sustainable action programme to combat prejudice and discrimination. Especially in these challenging times, it was important to create spaces for encounters. Together, the participants reflected on current challenges in Jewish-Muslim dialogue, formulated goals and developed possible strategies for action. Over the course of two days, we set impulses for future cooperation and specific projects and created space  for personal encounters and solidarity-based action.

The paritipants developed ideas for specific projects to be made possible or subsidised by micro-grants: The approaches discussed ranged from a potential Jewish-Muslim umbrella organisation for German-speaking countries to an interfaith buddies programme and a book project on Jewish-Muslim realities. With the clear aim of not only promoting dialogue, but also creating actual spaces for action, we would like to provide five micro-grants. These are intended to facilitate bilateral and multilateral projects that the partners develop together. With this initiative, we are providing concrete incentives for further work, promoting joint action and actively strengthening the sense of solidarity in our society.

The event was organised in cooperation with the Allianz Foundation.
