Dagesh I Jewish Week Dresden

We are delighted to be working with our partners in Dresden to highlight contemporary Jewish activism, art and culture in the Saxon capital.

On April 15-16, the Jewish Week Dresden presents the symposium „”Jewish, Now! – The Significance of Jewish Culture for a Democratic Society”.

“Our aim is to reflect on vibrant Jewish culture and collectively find answers to questions such as: What is the significance of Jewish culture within the broader cultural landscape? How can we create positive spaces for Jewish themes? What can we learn from others’ experiences, and how can we enrich each other?”

Right after the opening, the program includes exciting topics ranging from the education of Jewish themes with Dagesh curator Daniel Laufer to challenges and opportunities for Jewish cultural events in the German context with Lea von Haselberg. In the afternoon, experts from the Dagesh network, including Riv from radikal_jüdisch and textile artist Adi Liraz invite you to a variety of workshops.

The program continues on Tuesday with our collegues from Dagesh, Klarina S. Akselrud and Caroline Riggert. They will enrich the panel on “How do we reach our target groups? Presentation of suitable formats for mediation”.

The event will take place in Kulturrathaus, Königstr. 15, 01097 Dresden, registration is required by April 8, 2024.

The EPNA Autumn Workshop in Rome brought together practitioners from across Europe to explore the issue of antisemitism in Italy. As the host of the oldest Jewish community, Italy is a very interesting case study from historical and political perspectives. Learning at the workshop took place through presentations on the Italian case and a panel discussion which brought together policymakers to discuss the topic of building trust across sectors in order to combat antisemitism. Furthermore, the workshop provided participants with skills training and opportunities to engage in active exchange with local organisations.
