CPPD | Podcast Episode 43 ERINNERUNGSFUTUR: Nicole Schweiß in conversation with Marina Chernivsky

In this podcast episode, teacher and podcaster Nicole Schweiß talks to psychologist Marina Chernivsky about her KOLOT – VOICES project.

This documentary and artistic project was launched in 2024 at the Jewish Museum Berlin. KOLOT describes itself as a contemporary historical archive that sheds light on the consequences of the 7 October 2023 terrorist attack and reveals the simultaneities and after-effects of violence in Jewish biographies.

How can the unspeakable and invisible be given a voice and remembered? The videos come together to form a mosaic of personal narratives and snapshots, constituting collective testimonies of Jewish life in Germany since 7 October 2023. Marina Chernivsky describes this date as a profound turning point for the Jewish community. She explains why it is important to hear these voices and let them speak for themselves, and how KOLOT is an act of self-empowerment.
